Portrait photography is about capturing the very essence of people.

It should say something about them. About who they are. Where they've been. Where they're going.

Often I think the best portraits are taken by parents simply because they get to spend the most time with their children. They are there to shoot a photograph of a child's first haircut or when they lose their first tooth. You may may not consider it a professional photo but it can be a beautiful photo none the less. That's the good stuff! They make for great memories and isn't that what photography is all about...
