Simon Properties - La Plaza Mall

I recently completed a commercial project for Simon Properties, the largest public U.S. real estate company. Simon owns and operates La Plaza Mall, which is the Rio Grande Valley's leading shopping, dining and entertainment destination. The project was to create photographs that Simon could use for a new brochure design as well as other marketing purposes.
I always enjoy photographing new projects that challenge my abilities. What I found challenging about this project was the positioning of mall traffic within the frame. Once I found my position and determined the correct shutter speed to blur any recognizable faces, it was just a matter of patiently waiting until people fill the correct space within the frame. At times this was a maddening task but I managed to pull through. I really enjoyed this project!

Lunar Eclipse as seen in South Texas at 2:04 AM

Classical Elements - Images by Johnny Quiroz

Current conditions in South Texas:
December 21, 2010 - Cloudy -  71 degrees - SSE wind @14 mph - 80% humidity - 99% illumination

The clouds parted for just a brief moment and I was able to capture this image...

Other than the cloud cover, it was a very comfortable night to be outside. My lovely wife Evette was not able to stay up long enough to experience this moment. I decided to try and capture it for her...

Posada 2010

Posada - Images by Johnny Quiroz

The City of Hidalgo, Ramon Ayala, and The Hermes Music Foundation presented the 11th annual Christmas Posada on Wednesaday, Dec. 15th, 2010. Turnout for the event must have been in the tens of thousands. The collaborative effort brought toys for the kids, great authentic food, live entertainment, and a great energy to the small border town of Hidalgo, Texas. Also present at the event was the best Santa Claus  I have ever seen!

The Festival of Lights is scheduled to remain open till the end of December...
